Anything Goes is set upon the S.S. American, where evangelist/nightclub singer Reno Sweeney is en route from New York to England. Her pal, Billy Crocker, has stowed away to be near his beloved, Hope Harcourt. The problem is, Hope is already engaged to be married to the wealthy Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Joining this love triangle on board the luxury liner are Public Enemy Numer 13, Moonface Martin, and his sidekick in crime, Bonnie. With the help of some elaborate disguises and tap dancing sailors, Reno and Martin join forces to help Billy in his quest to win Hope's heart. From the Director, Rebekah Martens:
Auditions will be held in the Fine Arts building, upstairs in room 208. Some of you may know it as the experimental theater. Rehearsals will not begin until after the New Year. We are looking for at least 11 females and 12 males. There will also be a mixed gender chorus. Anyone 12+ is welcome to audition. Please prepare a 16 bar section of the song of your choice. You must have music, either in sheet form (accompanist will be provided) or a CD. Please select a piece that will well represent your talents for this show. If you are interested in the show, but not so much the singing, I have good news for you! There are several roles available that do not require you to be a singer. Also, along with the chorus and title roles, I plan to cast a small, mixed gender, dance ensemble. This group will focus primarily on dance through out the entire rehearsal process, and will be featured in many of our musical numbers. So even if you do not consider yourself a singer, we still have a place for you! December 8-9 will be normal, first phase auditions. Each of you will be asked to present your song choice first. Those who wish only to audition for the dance ensemble need not participate in this portion. We will then move into cold readings of the script. We will close the evening with a small dance combination, which every person will be expected to participate in. Please dress accordingly. You need only to attend one of these evenings. December 10 will be used for title role callbacks, as well as the second round of auditions for the dance ensemble. For the title roles, we will only be doing cold reads, and singing from the show. There will be no need to prepare music. For the dancers we will have a more intense dance comination prepared for you. Something you might actually be using in the show :) This night of auditions will be invite only. I'm looking forward to this show.
