ABOUT OUR CAST AND DIRECTOR

About Jackie Doner-Campbell:

Jackie discovered her love for theater as a teenager in Ohio. She moved to Americus in 2002 as a Habitat for Humanity volunteer, and she is currently a teacher at Furlow Charter School. Jackie first became involved in Sumter Players in 2004 as part of the cast in A Christmas Carol, and she has also been in the cast in Sumter Players’ productions of The Gift of the Magi, It’s a Wonderful Life - A Life Radio Play, and A Christmas Story. This is Jackie's debut as director.

About Rachel Price:

Rachel was born in Americus. Her debut with Sumter Players was in the early 2000's as an extra in the production Oklahoma! More recently she was the lead actress in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Interestingly, AJ Bailey played her husband in that production and he is now playing her son. Rachel also was cast in It's A Wonderful Life - A Live Radio Play. Rachel is the owner, operator of GBR Family Cleaning.

About Donavan Smalley:

Donovan currently serves as Vice-President of Productions for Sumter Players Inc. Born in Atlanta, GA and raised in Vienna, GA, he received his Bachelor of Arts from Georgia Southwestern State University in 2015. It was during his time there when he began working with Sumter Players. Over the course of the past 8 years, he has participated in 12 productions as an actor — two of them as tech and one as assistant director. It has been through Sumter Players that he has been able to play roles such as the plant, Audrey II (Little Shop of Horrors), Joseph Asagai (A Raisin in the Sun), Tom Robinson (To Kill a Mockingbird), and Marty (Dreamgirls) just to name a few. Currently, he works in admissions at GSW. His greatest aspiration is to one day become a voiceover artist while working as a thespian on a professional level.

About A.J. Bailey:

Born and raised in Americus, GA, A.J. studied at GSW’s theater and communication department. After graduation, he was cast for The Upstate Shakespeare Festival in productions of As You Like It and Julius Caesar located in Greenville, SC. He studied improvisation at Alchemy Comedy Theater, also in Greenville, and he acted in their company for a year. He has been involved in numerous Sumter Players productions playing comic foils to dastardly villains in shows such as Southern Fried Funeral, To Kill a Mockingbird, Man of La Mancha, and Motherhood Out Loud. In addition to acting, he has also lent his talents to directing two shows for Sumter players: A Christmas Story (co-director) and It's a Wonderful Life - A Live Radio Play (director), which was also Sumter Players’ first livestream production. A.J. hopes you enjoy the show and thanks you for coming to see our production.
